Kapawi Lodge
is a newer lodge complex situated on the Pastaza river in the
territory of the Achuar Indians. The buildings and the material used
are thus of typical Achuar traditions. The lodge tries to use
environmentally sound methods like solar energy, biodegradable
soaps and
trash recycling and works together with OINAE,
the indigenous
organization.
Tour
programs:
This lodge is located on the Pastaza river
and transport to there takes part in a small plane from Quito. The price
per person for the flight Quito - Kapawi - Quito
is $224.- and not included in the prices below. Included are
accommodations and meals at the lodge and tour programs with native
guides and English interpreters.

weight allowed is 25 pounds (10kg) per person

Activities
include hiking through the tropical rainforest to get to know its rich
flora and fauna with explanations of trees, medicinal and poisonous
plants, night walk through the forest to observe nocturnal animals and
insects, canoeing on the lagoon and river, bird watching, self guided
trails through the forest and camping and visit of a Achuar community to learn about the life of the native Indians there.
