Rabida Island

The reddish color is the
product of dead
corals accumulating over time there.
Shorebirds
like the American Oystercatcher frequent the sand beach in
search of food.
Those
steep cliffs are are favored by blue-footed boobies to rest after
fishing quests.
In the shrubs near the beach pelicans nest and rear their young.
When boats
are anchored in the bays overnight, occasionally unexpected guests
drop in to take advantage of soft resting places after a hard days
night.
Frigate Birds often accompany moving ships and give great photo
opportunities.
The hill is covered
by incense trees which in the rainy season carry green leaves. In
the dry period they are void of green vegetation.
