Botanical Garden of Guayaquil
This beautiful garden is located on the outskirts of Guayaquil, in the siburb called Las Orchideas.
And of course orchids play a leading role in this botanical display.
They are the favorite flower of many people and very abundant in Ecuador.
And some more species on display.
Palm trees have many native species in the country and often play a great economic role with different uses.
Heliconias are plants related to the banana family and some 30 species make their home in Ecuador.
Heliconias are tropical plants found in the Amazon and on the coast. Some species may range up to 3000m in the higher cloudforests covering the Andes.
Bromeliads is another plant family common in the country with hundreds of different species.
Small ponds with water flowers and an enclosed area with butterflies complement the gardens.
A small cafeteria offers some relaxing moments in this tranquil environment of that small hill.
A view to far-off Guayaquil is offered from the coffee shop.
