This private orchid
garden is located right in the small town of Mindo. A
small office with books and information is part of the grounds
as are a restaurant and tourist cabins.
Many of the local orchid species have tiny flowers
which only can be seen under a magnifying glass.
Hugolindo, the owner of the garden,
collected hundreds of those wonderful
flowers from the nearby cloudforest and
put them up for display.
Apart from naming the orchids, he will also explain them to
you.
A selection of
larger (for this particular genus) Pleurothalis
orchids on display in the garden.
Smaller Pleurothalis to
the right and Masdevalia are shown to the left.
Lady Slipper Orchid
to the left are large and well appreciated in the world of
orchid lovers.
Epidendrum and
Masdevalia are two important genera in the country.
And even more
orchids on exhibit in this well maintained garden.
