WHITEWATER RAFTING

Ecuador is an ideal country for rafting and kayak adventures (click for photos) with its high mountain ranges and its many rivers dropping down from the Andes into the Amazon basin or Pacific coast. Due its tropical location you are offered expeditions year-round, always finding at least one river which offers an exciting whitewater adventure.

Toachi & Blanco rivers in the Santo Domingo Area

This is Ecuador's most popular rafting river as it is only 3 hours from Quito
located and provides fun-filled runs yearlong. Depending on the water level you might run the upper section (high water) or lower section with the famous Sapo Gorge and ending in Valle Hermoso.

Alto Napo, Anzu and Misahualli rivers in the Tena Area

Those rivers drop down from the Eastern Cordillera of the Andes to the Amazon Lowlands. This tropical rainforest region around Tena is located 5 -6 hours from Quito. The rivers offer yearround challenging 1- day rafting excursions with many rapids and a beautiful tropical surrounding with a rich flora and fauna.

Quijos River in the Baeza Area

The river drops down to the Eastern Amazonian region and is located 3 hours from Quito. This river offers excellent 1 or 2 day rafting excursions with many challenging rapids and is more for the experienced rafters. A beautiful tropical cloud- to rainforest surrounds the river with a rich flora and fauna.

Upano River in the  Macas Area

This river is located in the rugged and hilly region around Macas and offers excellent longer rafting excursions. The first days are spent in a part of river surrounded by lush tropical jungle vegetation and many birds. On the last days we enter a towering canyon, which is called "River of the Sacred Waterfalls" as spectacular falls cascade down the walls. This also is a region inhabited by Shuar Indians, who we visit in their traditional palm thatched huts.
