 Days 1 - 6


 

Day 1 :  Arriving at Huaraz with our first views to the peaks of the Cordillera Blanca ( F.S.)


 

Day  2:  Caraz is a small town at 2250m, 70 km north of Huaraz. Getting the last provisions in the market (  #1&3 F.S.)


 

  

Day 3:  Arriving at Cashapampa, starting and ending point of our trek. Looking from there to Hualcayan


 
Day 4:  Children in Hualcayan watching and minding their own business (F.S.)


 

Day 4:  Beautiful sunset over the Cordillera Negra to the west as seen from Huishcash


 

Day 5:  On this stretch of the trek small lagoons and larger mountain lakes are encountered


 

Day 5:  The mighty Santa Cruz Massive with Laguna Cullicocha below


 

Day 5:  Crossing the Osoruri Pass at 4850m (left)

Day 6:  Crossing another pass Vientanum the next morning

 

  

Day 6:  In the trail along the Alpamayo river, pre-Inca field terraces and ruins can be seen...

 ... and across it, the peaks of Milluacochca and Pillanco can be admired


 

Day 6:  In this high mountain region, called locally Puna, many flowers and insects are still found over 4000m (#1 F.S.)


 

Day 6:  Before reaching camp our very first glimpse of the famous north face of Alpamayo
